Structure Welder

About the role

As a Structure Welder I at Alfa Laval, you will lay out, fit, tack, and weld steel components and assemblies according to blueprint specifications. Using MIG, TIG, and stick welding equipment, you will ensure precision, structural integrity, and a clean finish that meets strict dimensional and aesthetic standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and execute weld procedures using MIG, TIG, stick welders, grinders, plasma cutters, drill presses, and other tools.
• Assemble and weld parts with clamps, bolts, and tack welds, planning layouts for structural integrity and safety.
• Inspect welds, correct defects, and verify dimensions with measuring instruments.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, complete preventive checklists, and support material handling and workstation supply.
• Assist team leaders, train coworkers, and cross‑train across departments to expand skill sets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (preferred) with at least 1 year of MIG or TIG welding experience.
• Manufacturing background; ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test if required.
• Forklift certification preferred and experience operating overhead cranes.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally, stand or walk 80 % of the shift, and work in varied weather and noisy environments.
