Structural Engineer - Spent Fuel Handling Project

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Structural Engineer to support its Spent Fuel Handling Project (SFHP) in Scoville, Idaho. The role provides structural engineering expertise to help deliver the SFHP design to construction completion and commissioning, giving technical support to all aspects of structural engineering, including reviewing and checking design documents and deliverables from contractors and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and advise on contracted work to ensure quality and compliance with plans, designs and specifications
• Determine the adequacy and validity of contractor data and compliance with safety requirements
• Track project progress and contractual change orders using various reporting mechanisms
• Make on-site inspections of construction sites to find solutions for problems, ensure compliance and resolve technical issues

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Idaho professional engineering license, or ability to obtain it within six months
• Experience on projects from concept through construction completion
• U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain facility credentials at the Idaho National Lab site
• Preferred: experience leading engineers and designers, DOE and NRC knowledge, and a Master's degree

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASTM, ASME and IBC codes
• Familiarity with Amentum quality procedures and ISO 9000 or NQA-1 quality systems
• Competence with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work onsite at the Idaho National Lab daily
