Structural Engineer Intern

About the role

Amentum offers an internship to introduce and build hands-on skills that differ from those gained in the classroom and help students move toward a professional career. Interns are assigned duties that give a broad, well-rounded learning experience, and they also perform other position-related duties as assigned. Interns are drawn from Environmental Sciences (ES&H), Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science and Management Information Systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of project calculations.
• Assist in the production of design drawings.
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Required profile

• Working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a Structures major (or equivalent education).
• College or university student with a minimum of 90 credits.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail; able to work independently and collaboratively with guidance.
• US citizen (dual citizenship not allowed); dual citizenship may be considered.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.
• Preferred: FE exam passed, coursework in reinforced concrete and steel design, and knowledge of AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC and ACI 318.
• Preferred: working knowledge of STAAD.Pro and of MathCad, Excel and Word.
