Strategic Communications Intern – Social Media Content

About the role

The Department of Peace Operations is seeking a Strategic Communications Intern to support the development of social media content. This six‑month unpaid internship can be undertaken remotely or in a hybrid arrangement at the UN premises in New York, starting on or before 3 August 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Support social‑media campaigns, create and edit audiovisual and written content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and LinkedIn.
• Prepare presentations, update web pages, and assist in organizing events.
• Research, draft, and format information, abstracts and resource guides for social‑media use.
• Proofread documents from partner organisations and compile data on the Military Component in the field.
• Monitor and analyse social‑media statistics and gather content at special events.
• Attend meetings as an observer, manage agendas and draft minutes.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recent graduate of a communications, journalism, international relations or related programme.
• Strong research, writing and editing abilities, able to work under tight deadlines.
• Interest in peace operations and United Nations activities.

Required skills

• Experience with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn.
