Staff Technical Program Manager – Electrical Hardware ECU

About the role

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies are seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the development and delivery of vehicle control electronic control units (ECUs). You will act as the voice of the Electrical Hardware team across a cross‑functional organization, ensuring program milestones are met from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Electrical Hardware Design team to create and track engineering and delivery schedules aligned with vehicle program timelines.
• Drive custom module development, including in‑house PCBA designs and mechanical assemblies.
• Identify, mitigate, and communicate program risks, removing roadblocks to meet critical path dates.
• Coordinate with vehicle line, software, electrical, and other teams to synchronize deliveries and ensure integrated ECU releases.
• Lead ECU design reviews, support pre‑production builds, and manage prototype component deliveries with suppliers.
• Oversee integration of electronic assemblies with vehicle systems and ensure documentation is released into PLM.
• Support purchasing activities, budget planning, forecasting, and maintain risk registers.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 + years of experience on a program team or equivalent.
• BS or higher in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Proven ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and lead indirectly across multiple functions.

Required skills

• PCBA design and mechanical assembly expertise.
• ECU development and validation experience.
• Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
• Budget planning, forecasting, and risk‑register management.
• Supplier and supply‑chain coordination.
