Staff Software Engineer - Data Platform (HL7/FHIR)

About the role

R1 RCM is a healthcare revenue cycle company, and R37 is its AI innovation lab building technology such as Phare OS to improve pre-bill workflows like authorization, utilization management, documentation and coding. As a Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (HL7/FHIR), you will join the engineering team and build and maintain software products that meet technical, business and customer experience goals. The role is remote and US-based, and requires mentoring junior engineers and acting as a thought leader.

Key responsibilities

• Take part heavily in roadmap definition with senior product and engineering leaders, and evaluate and shape strategic technology direction.
• Recommend ways to structure source code and implementation so that code is maintainable, testable and performant.
• Work with product management and business stakeholders to understand requirements and help estimate epics, features and stories.
• Script and maintain automated build steps, continuous integration systems and staging environments.
• Mentor junior developers and act as a trusted subject-matter expert.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of software or data engineering experience, including 5+ years in a technical leadership or thought-leadership capacity.
• Ability and willingness to mentor junior engineers.

Required skills

• Advanced experience with Apache Spark, Python, Scala, Databricks and big-data architecture.
• Hands-on experience with HL7, FHIR, Epic, clinical data and healthcare technology environments.
• Extensive experience with at least one major cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.
• Web services and integration technologies: XML, XSD, SOAP, JSON and REST APIs.
• Version control, automated testing, CI/CD, Agile development and automated build/deployment.

What we offer

• Base pay range of $212,100 to $409,050 per year, depending on role, level, location, skills and experience.
• Eligibility for an annual bonus plan at a target of 25%.
