Staff Software Engineer, Claude Design

About the role

Anthropic is building Claude Design, a product that lets anyone collaborate with an AI to create polished visual work such as prototypes, mockups, slides, and marketing collateral. As a Staff Software Engineer you will shape the core frontend experience, turning cutting‑edge research into a tool that designers reach for first.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship Claude Design's core surfaces (design canvas, real‑time editing, inline comments, live adjustment controls), shipping early and often.
• Collaborate with research teams to translate frontier AI vision into intuitive design experiences.
• Work directly with designers, internal test users, and external partners to gather feedback, iterate quickly, and validate product concepts.
• Set technical direction for frontend challenges such as editor and canvas architecture, real‑time collaboration, design‑system inference, import/export, and performance scaling.
• Design and run experiments to test product hypotheses, balancing creative exploration with rigorous measurement.
• Own the quality bar for visual fidelity, latency, responsiveness, and reliability of the product.
