Staff+ Security Engineer, Risk Engineering

About the role

Anthropic is building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. The Security Risk team is redefining risk management as an engineering function. As a Staff+ Security Engineer you will own the most complex security risk problems, build AI‑native platforms for risk measurement, and partner with Security Engineering to shape the company’s security program.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of complex security risk problems, assess severity and likelihood, and drive escalation, treatment, and remediation.
• Build systems that make risk measurable and scalable, including quantification tools, automated intake, triage, and observability dashboards.
• Collaborate with Security Engineering to pressure‑test architectures, translate findings into prioritized remediation roadmaps, and make investment cases.
• Mentor engineers and risk practitioners across the organization, fostering a risk‑engineering culture.
• Work across the full security landscape—identity and secrets management, developer security, supply chain, infrastructure security, and secure frameworks—providing deep technical analysis where needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading end‑to‑end security risk initiatives with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical ability to turn ambiguous signals into defensible risk assessments.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor technical teams and influence security culture.
• Ability to operate in a fast‑moving AI‑focused environment and handle greenfield projects.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with CISO‑level stakeholders and cross‑functional partners.
