Staff Product Launch Test Engineer

About the role

The Staff Product Launch Test Engineer will independently lead the production launch process for multiple ECU programs, ensuring a smooth transition from low‑rate initial production to high‑volume manufacturing. You will apply deep test‑engineering expertise to define testing strategies, drive cross‑functional alignment, and coordinate activities across contract manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own production testing specifications for feasibility and scalability across ECU programs.
• Industrialize ECU flashing processes (JTAG/DAP/ISP), from protocol selection to volume qualification.
• Lead DFT analysis with contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders, optimizing test coverage and throughput.
• Identify high‑risk areas in design and production cycles and propose improved manufacturing test approaches.
• Serve as primary test‑engineering contact for Design Engineering, Product Launch, Supplier Excellence, and VWG governance teams.
• Coordinate test‑engineering activities across contract‑manufacturer sites, aligning capacity plans, tester deployment, and commissioning milestones.
• Guide junior test engineers or CM technicians during tester bring‑up and production readiness.
• Drive completion of PFMEA and PPAP, ensuring test coverage meets quality gate requirements.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead production launch processes for automotive ECU programs.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and cross‑functional engineering teams.
• Strong analytical skills for multi‑variable problem solving and root‑cause analysis.
