Staff Physician (Nocturnist) – Hospital Medicine

About the role

The Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Miami is seeking a Staff Physician (Nocturnist) to provide high‑quality inpatient care during night shifts. The physician will manage patient care, ensure accurate documentation, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and prescribe appropriate medical treatments.
• Gather and review patient information from records, families, and other health professionals.
• Report quality‑assurance incidents, including medication errors, following department guidelines.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and participate in continuing education.

Required profile

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school (or foreign equivalent).
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in a relevant specialty.
• Valid, unrestricted Florida medical license (or eligibility to obtain prior to credentialing).
• Current BLS certification; ACLS certification if applicable.
• Valid DEA licensure.

Required skills

• Knowledge of professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Ability to maintain CME requirements and meet state licensing standards.
