Staff Physician (Moonlighter) – Radiology

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a qualified Staff Physician (Moonlighter) to provide Saturday daytime coverage for outpatient CT imaging studies at UMHC/SCCC. This part‑time role ensures safe contrast administration and patient monitoring during CT procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and triage outpatient CT studies that meet specific criteria (no pre‑medication, no IV hydration, low‑risk patients).
• Assist CT technologists with questions related to CT imaging protocols.
• Manage patients receiving IV iodinated contrast, responding to mild, moderate, or severe contrast media reactions.
• Write medication orders, progress notes, and discharge instructions for patients after contrast reactions.
• Activate rapid response or code teams for severe reactions, cardiac or respiratory arrest, and provide BLS support until help arrives.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree with an active physician license.
• Board‑certified or eligible in Radiology or related specialty.
• Ability to apply professional medical principles, pharmacology, and emergency response protocols.
• Effective verbal and written communication with proper telephone etiquette.

Required skills

• CT imaging interpretation and protocol knowledge.
• IV iodinated contrast administration and reaction management.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
