Staff Mechatronics Engineer

About the role

Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots and needs a senior engineer to own the full mechatronic architecture of its data‑collection platform, from prototype to mass‑produced fleet hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the mechanical structure, gripper kinematics, sensor integration, and all physical subsystem interfaces.
• Drive the hardware lifecycle: concept, prototype, DVT, and mass production, including design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Specify mechanical requirements such as gripper geometry, wrist kinematics, ergonomics, weight, balance, and stiffness.
• Integrate sensors at the hardware level, designing camera mounts, Aruco marker systems, and calibration fixtures.
• Lead DFM/DFA from 3D‑printed prototypes to injection‑molded and die‑cast parts, manage BOM, traceability, and supplier qualification.
• Define reliability and durability standards for global fleet deployment and run DVT/PVT test plans.
• Collaborate with the electrical engineering team on PCB envelopes, connector placement, and cable routing.

Required profile

• Proven track record taking mechatronic products from prototype to mass production in high‑volume precision hardware.
• Systems‑level fluency across mechanism design, sensor integration, tolerance analysis, supplier management, and reliability engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with DFM/DFA for molded, die‑cast, and machined parts and managing factory conversations.
• Experience setting up and executing DVT/PVT programs, including test plan definition and failure analysis.
