Staff Fellow - Ophthalmology

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute seeks a Clinical Staff Fellow to support its nationally ranked ophthalmology department. This full‑time position involves direct patient care, teaching, and on‑call responsibilities within a leading academic medical center.

Key responsibilities

• Provide extensive direct ophthalmic patient care in clinic and operating rooms.
• Participate in night and weekend on‑call rotations.
• Assist in teaching and training ophthalmology residents and fellows.
• Support residents during clinic sessions and surgical cases.
• Assume appropriate administrative duties related to the training program.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree with successful completion of an ACGME‑accredited ophthalmology residency in the U.S.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in ophthalmology.
• Valid, unrestricted Florida medical license or Medical Faculty Certificate.
• DEA certification.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in ophthalmology.
• Ability to teach and mentor residents.
• Competence in handling on‑call duties.
