Staff Engineer, Data Center

About the role

LinkedIn is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead field engineering and infrastructure delivery for its data center sites in Hillsboro, OR. The role blends construction management with hands‑on engineering to ensure that mechanical, electrical, cooling, and white‑space systems are built, validated, and transitioned to reliable production operation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead field engineering for data center infrastructure, overseeing mechanical, electrical, cooling, liquid‑cooling, and low‑voltage systems.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals to identify risks, constructability issues, and integration gaps.
• Provide technical leadership for liquid‑cooling systems, including CDU operation, coolant distribution, controls integration, leak detection, startup validation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Drive commissioning activities, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness validation.
• Investigate field issues, resolve installation conflicts, equipment deficiencies, and design discrepancies, and perform root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in data center or high‑density compute infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and cooling system design and operation.
• Proven ability to balance technical requirements, schedule, cost, safety, and quality.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
