Staff Electromechanical Engineer – Avionics Integration

Shield AI is a venture‑backed defense‑tech company redefining autonomous aviation. We are seeking a Staff Electromechanical Engineer to lead the design and integration of high‑performance avionics systems from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design complex electromechanical solutions for avionics packaging, electrical interconnects, thermal management, and aircraft integration.
• Perform structural, preliminary thermal, and modal analyses to ensure survivability in harsh environments.
• Ensure compliance with performance, safety, environmental, and EMI/EMC standards such as DO‑160, DO‑254, DO‑178C, MIL‑STD‑810, and MIL‑STD‑461.
• Own the design process from concept reviews through validation, failure analysis, and flight‑test readiness.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience designing mechanical and electrical equipment for aerospace, including harness integration.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) and collaboration with electrical engineers on PCB constraints.
• Familiarity with PCB layout, eCAD tools (Altium, Cadence, Allegro) and harness design software (Capital, Zuken).
• Experience with finite element, thermal, and fatigue/lifecycle testing.
