Staff Electrical Specialist – Hardware Test

About the role

Shield AI is looking for a Staff Electrical Specialist to design, build, and maintain electrical test systems that verify X‑BAT hardware reliability. This senior, hands‑on position focuses on PCBA and harness troubleshooting, test‑equipment development, and supporting production and test operations.

Key responsibilities

• Build, integrate, validate, and repair custom electrical test systems, including electronics, harnesses, instruments, and mechanical fixtures.
• Perform benchtop PCBA testing and advanced troubleshooting using schematics, test procedures, and laboratory instruments.
• Design and release interface boards, PCBs, harnesses, breakout assemblies, and adapters using CAD tools.
• Support equipment checkout, calibration, preventive maintenance, configuration control, and lifecycle management.
• Mentor technicians and engineers, lead difficult builds and repairs, and document work instructions and troubleshooting guides.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on electrical experience in aerospace, manufacturing, test, or similar hardware environments.
• Proven ability to isolate root causes of electrical failures using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
• Experience assembling, modifying, and reworking PCBA and harnesses from controlled drawings.
• Ability to read and create schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and test procedures.
• Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance if required.

Required skills

• Oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply, electronic load, logic analyzer operation.
• PCBA testing and harness assembly/rework.
• Design of interface boards and moderate PCBs using Altium, KiCad, OrCAD, or Eagle.
• Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, and Linux for test automation.
• Knowledge of analog/digital circuits, power distribution, grounding, shielding, and electrical safety.
