Specialty Pharmacist 2 – Full-Time

About the role

The Specialty Pharmacist 2 provides comprehensive clinical and operational pharmacy services for patients receiving specialty medications through UHealth Specialty Pharmacy. This full‑time position supports safe medication use, patient education, therapy monitoring, and coordination with interdisciplinary care teams.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify specialty medication prescriptions for accuracy, dose, indication, allergies, drug interactions, contraindications, laboratory parameters and clinical requirements.
• Provide patient education and counseling on administration, adherence, adverse effects, storage, handling and therapy‑specific requirements.
• Perform clinical assessments, medication reconciliation, adherence assessments and ongoing therapy monitoring in line with specialty pharmacy protocols.
• Identify, document and resolve medication‑related problems, communicating interventions with prescribers, nurses and other care team members.
• Collaborate with medication access, prior‑authorization, patient‑assistance and payer teams to ensure timely access to specialty therapies.
• Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, payer and manufacturer requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant pharmacy experience.
• Valid State of Florida Registered Pharmacist license.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies and adapt to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Technical proficiency with office software, pharmacy technology and relevant computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with patients, prescribers and interdisciplinary teams.
