About the role
The Georgia Public Defender Council is hiring a Specialized Division Director (Attorney Level 4) to lead a statewide legal division. In this senior position you will oversee the delivery of high‑quality indigent defense services, manage staff, and ensure compliance with state and federal law.
Key responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of the specialized division, providing leadership to attorneys, investigators and support personnel.
- Supervise performance, monitor compliance with legal standards, and guarantee effective representation for clients.
- Collaborate with judicial partners, state agencies, and external stakeholders.
- Conduct and oversee legal research, analysis, and preparation of official proceedings.
- Develop policies, procedures and training to enhance division effectiveness.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required profile
- Juris Doctor from an accredited institution.
- License to practice law in Georgia, or eligibility to sit for the Georgia Bar within one year of hire.
- At least three years of relevant legal experience or comparable experience at the Attorney 3 level.
- Demonstrated leadership, management and decision‑making abilities.
