About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist 2 to join the interventional radiology team at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This full‑time, on‑site position supports diagnostic and interventional procedures by operating radiographic equipment and ensuring patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and clinical history before procedures.
• Assist with patient interviews, documentation, and informed consent.
• Prepare patients, maintain sterile technique, and provide emotional support.
• Operate radiographic equipment to obtain high‑quality images with minimal radiation exposure.
• Assist the radiologist with supplies, positioning, and technical aspects during procedures.
• Apply radiation protection principles for patients, staff, and self.
• Monitor patients, initiate life‑support measures, and assist in CPR if needed.
• Maintain knowledge of patient monitoring devices and provide patient education.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and promote high‑quality care.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in interventional radiology or similar setting.
• ARRT certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
