Special Operations Combatives Instructor

About the role

The Special Operations Combatives Instructor provides advanced, mindset‑focused physical training to Naval Special Warfare personnel and candidates at the Basic Training Command in San Diego. This part‑time position supports SEAL Qualification Training by delivering hands‑on instruction across multiple combatives disciplines and ensuring curriculum alignment with approved doctrine.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver combatives instruction, including stance, footwork, clinch, takedowns, wall‑control, and ground techniques.
• Develop and submit quarterly training progression plans.
• Coordinate with Government training personnel to maintain curriculum alignment.
• Support professional development events and sustainment training.
• Maintain contractor manpower reporting and ensure safe execution of all training events.
• Participate in validation, program review, and implementation of approved tactics, techniques, and procedures.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen with a valid driver’s license.
• Active Secret security clearance (SCI eligible).
• Minimum 10 years of experience teaching or coaching combatives.
• At least 5 years teaching combatives to Special Operations Forces.
• Professional or collegiate experience in at least four disciplines (e.g., Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu, Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Kickboxing, Muay Thai).
• Experience across stand‑up, transition, and groundwork phases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong verbal/written communication.
