Spanish Teacher – Global Language (Grades 7-12)

About the role

The Upper Arlington City Schools are seeking a dedicated Global Language Spanish Teacher for Hastings/Jones Middle School. This full‑time, exempt position will serve students in grades 7‑12, fostering language proficiency and cultural awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess Spanish instruction aligned with state standards.
• Maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment and manage student behavior.
• Prepare clear lesson plans, maintain accurate records, and provide substitute lesson materials.
• Communicate student progress through reports, conferences, and parent outreach.
• Collaborate with administration to implement school policies and protect equipment and facilities.
• Mentor new teachers and, when requested, act as department chairperson.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in education with a focus on Spanish or related subject.
• Valid Ohio licensure for grades 7‑12 Spanish (or appropriate multi‑age licensure).
• Prior teaching experience, preferably at the middle or high school level.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish language instruction and teaching methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and families.

Required skills

• Word processing and basic computer skills for lesson preparation and record‑keeping.
