Spacecraft Structures Engineer

About the role

Overview Energy is seeking a senior Spacecraft Structures Engineer to lead the design, analysis, testing and manufacturing of spacecraft structural systems from concept through flight. The role combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end development of structural assemblies and components for advanced space systems, working closely with cross‑functional teams.
• Perform comprehensive structural analysis of composites and metallic parts using industry‑standard tools (NX Nastran, other FEA software).
• Create, refine and validate finite‑element models to evaluate performance under static, dynamic, thermal and acoustic loads; conduct trade studies and mass‑optimization.
• Develop allowables, assess margins for bolted and bonded joints, and generate GD&T specifications.
• Design parts and assemblies in NX CAD, ensuring manufacturability, ease of assembly and complete product definition including drawings and test procedures.
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturing principles and rapid‑prototyping techniques to reduce cost and simplify production.
• Plan, execute and support structural test campaigns, process data, validate results and document lessons learned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural Engineering or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, structural analysis and testing of aerospace hardware.
• Strong knowledge of dynamic mechanical system design, vibration, buckling and thermo‑elastic analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software – NX.
• Advanced FEA tools – NX Nastran or equivalent.
• Experience with GD&T and design‑for‑manufacturing practices.
• Hands‑on experience in spacecraft‑level structural test campaign design and execution.
