Software Engineering Manager - Order Fulfillment

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Software Engineering Manager for its Order Fulfillment team, working virtually from Georgia. You will contribute to the products created and help grow the next generation of engineering talent, while working with strategic vendors so that third-party tools and applications are available to product teams. The role is split roughly 30% delivery and execution, 10% support and enablement, 50% people leadership and 10% learning.

Key responsibilities

• Work with product, UX and engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, scalable software, and document and enforce quality and change control standards
• Write custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services and test cases
• Work with vendors and partners on critical tooling and platforms, and build dashboards, logging and alerting
• Evaluate new technologies, lead review board sessions and fill in for product teams when engineers are out of the office
• Answer engineer questions, monitor tools, provide production application support and act as a technical escalation point
• Mentor and coach engineers, run annual and mid-year reviews, attract and retain talent and promote modern software development practices
• Learn new technologies and build relationships with technology leaders at other companies

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Master of an object-oriented programming language (Java preferred)
• Preferred: 5-7 years of relevant experience, including 5 years with GCP applications, backend Java and complex enterprise projects
• Preferred: experience guiding junior engineers, managing team members, vendor relationships and translating strategy into execution
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field

Required skills

• Preferred: Python, Ruby on Rails, Spring MVC, Node.js, SQL, GCP
• Preferred: troubleshooting, system monitoring and log analysis, modern product development pipelines

Travel is typically required 5% to 20% of the time. For California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents, the pay range is $140,000 - $240,000.
