Software Engineering Manager

About the role

ButterflyMX is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a distributed team building world‑class products that automate property access, operations, and security.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering Leads to define key results and align team goals with company objectives.
• Ensure the team has a clear vision and roadmap to achieve their goals efficiently.
• Adapt and evolve Agile processes to best fit team and project needs.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by challenging the team to identify bottlenecks and accelerate delivery.
• Provide support and guidance to engineers to enhance their technical and professional skills.
• Collaborate with QA teams to uphold high‑quality releases and improve software reliability.
• Address team interpersonal challenges and proactively manage performance issues.
• Assess team composition and hiring needs, actively recruit and source engineers.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional development experience.
• 3+ years of managerial experience, including setting goals, performance management, and resource allocation.
• Motivated by learning, collaboration, ownership, and business success.
• Well‑versed with Agile methodology and user‑story definition.
• Open‑minded about tool selection and user‑focused coding.

• Base salary $190,000‑$230,000 (USD) plus potential bonuses, equity, and other compensation.
