Software Engineer – Tactical Networks (Lexington, MA)

About the role

The Tactical Networks Group is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain advanced network and communications software for future tactical mobile and airborne systems. The role focuses on building a software testbed for space network emulation using containers and CI/CD pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and logical/mathematical solutions.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and equipment designers to integrate electronic data processing systems.
• Set up and manage a container‑based testbed that includes custom programs, dashboards, and graphical elements.
• Ensure software standards are met and provide operating instructions for end users.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research to evaluate communication system performance under expected conditions.

Required profile

• Strong background in software development with containers (Docker, Podman) and CI/CD toolsets.
• Experience working in network testbed environments, preferably with space‑based or software‑defined networking concepts.
• Proficiency with the Linux operating system.
• Ability to translate user needs into functional software solutions.
