Software Engineer Manager - Workforce Management

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Software Engineer Manager for its Workforce Management team, working virtually from Georgia. You will contribute to the products created and help grow the next generation of engineering talent, while working with strategic vendors so that third-party tools and applications are available to product teams. The role is split roughly 50% people leadership and 50% delivery and support.

Key responsibilities

• Work with product, UX and engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, scalable software, and document and enforce quality and change control standards
• Write custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services and test cases, and build dashboards, logging and alerting
• Work with vendors and partners on critical tooling, evaluate new technologies and lead review board sessions
• Support production software, act as a technical escalation point, and fill in for engineers who are out of the office
• Mentor and coach engineers, run annual and mid-year reviews, attract and retain talent and promote modern software development practices
• Learn new technologies and build relationships with technology leaders at other companies

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Master of an object-oriented programming language (Java preferred)
• Preferred: 5-7 years of relevant experience, leadership experience, AI-driven thinking, mastery of a modern scripting language (Python preferred), a modern web framework (Ruby on Rails, Spring MVC, Node.js), SQL, modern product pipelines, troubleshooting, system monitoring and log analysis, and experience guiding junior engineers and managing vendor relationships
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field

Travel is typically required 5% to 20% of the time. For California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents, the pay range is $140,000 - $240,000.
