Software Engineer Manager - Cloud Platform Products (Agentic Workloads)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Software Engineer Manager for its cloud platform products that enable and support agentic workloads. The role is remote and leads teams that build products used by engineering teams running agentic workloads and by non-engineering teams needing a secure, governed place to build and run their own applications. It covers delivery, support, people leadership and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery of cloud platform products, from roadmap and design through release and operation (30%).
• Work with product management, UX, architecture and consuming teams to build secure, reliable, scalable platform capabilities.
• Partner with Platform Reliability Engineering on SLOs, observability, alerting, runbooks and on-call readiness.
• Guide design and build of services on Google Cloud and GKE using infrastructure as code and CI/CD, and set security, governance and cost guardrails.
• Support and enablement: field questions, act as technical escalation point, take part in incident response and provide production support (10%).
• Lead, mentor and coach engineers, manage capacity and priorities, and foster collaboration and career growth (50%).
• Learn new technologies and build relationships with technology leaders elsewhere (10%).
• Night travel of 5-20% of the time.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including leading or managing engineers.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.

Required skills

• Mastery of an object-oriented programming language (Go preferred).
• Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes (GKE) in production.
• Infrastructure as code and GitOps (Terraform, Helm, Argo CD) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Observability (metrics, logging, tracing, SLOs, alerting) and production support and incident management.
• Security fundamentals for cloud platforms, including identity, secrets management and network policy.
