Software Engineer – Level 1 (Python, Java, Linux)

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Software Engineer, Level 1, for an agile team of systems and software engineers. The team analyzes existing capabilities and designs and develops new solutions that integrate with other products within the organization and across the agency baseline. Developers work within an existing CI/CD pipeline, building back-end, UI and/or full-stack software that performs geolocation data processing at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Work with a high-performing software development team in an agile, DevOps environment.
• Analyze existing products to develop enhancements, primarily using Python.
• Develop and integrate multiple user interfaces and/or services for software that processes data at scale.
• Carry out development, testing, validation, deployment, maintenance and Tier 3 support for operational software.
• Design and implement software solutions that integrate with core services and across new baselines.
• Apply agile software development practices to test and document the code base.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited institution, or 4 years of additional SWE experience on similar projects in place of the degree.
• 7 years of experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, CI/CD environment.
• Clearance: TS//SCI with poly.

Required skills

• Back-end services development in Python.
• Web user interfaces with modern Java, JavaScript and/or HTML.
• Active MQ, REST, NoSQL and/or elastic databases.
• Test case writing and execution, and requirement tracking with JIRA and Confluence.
• Development in Linux.
• Preferred: experience with dynamic or interactive map software.
