Software Engineer – Lead Integration & Automation

About the role

Carver Companies is seeking a Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of integration solutions, internal tools and automation across the organization. Based in Albany, the role works closely with business stakeholders to translate needs into reliable software that improves efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and identify improvement opportunities.
• Act as subject‑matter expert on existing vendor SaaS systems and internal applications.
• Design, build and maintain web applications, dashboards, APIs and automation tools.
• Develop robust ETL pipelines and data‑validation processes for data warehousing and analytics.
• Establish development standards, conventions and documentation for the new Carver IT arm.
• Deploy and manage solutions on Microsoft Azure, handling cloud hosting, storage and related services.
• Manage source code, branching and releases using GitHub.
• Provide guidance on AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT and support cybersecurity and IT operations as needed.
• Travel up to 15 % domestically within the US and Canada.

• Proven experience in software development and system integration.
• Strong ability to work with cross‑functional teams and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Willingness to work in both office and industrial/maritime environments.
• Readiness to travel for project support and stakeholder meetings.
