Software Engineer

About the role

Viasat is seeking a Software Engineer to join its team in Carlsbad, CA. You will work in a Linux development environment, contributing to cloud‑enabled, CI/CD‑driven projects that support global communications.

Key responsibilities

• Write and review code in Python, C++, Clojure, Java, Bash, and related languages.
• Create deployment frameworks and CI/CD pipelines for managed systems.
• Apply agile methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, and XP, and follow DevOps best practices.
• Participate in the design, documentation, and development of new APIs (JSON, YAML, REST).
• Develop software using Ansible playbooks and maintain existing systems.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements.
• Build automation tools to increase team velocity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or Master’s degree with equivalent knowledge).
• At least 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent academic coursework.
• Authorization to work permanently in the United States.
