Software Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

CACI is looking for an IT/Engineering student for a part-time, on-call Software Engineer Intern position in Omaha, Nebraska, for Summer 2027. Selected interns work a hybrid schedule with 2+ days in the Omaha office. The intern supports software development, engineering, operations and maintenance, and research and development for Air Force Command and Control and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance programs, working with a team that builds technology bridging software and intelligence needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, operate and maintain software, firmware components or computing systems software to be integrated with solutions that span other engineering disciplines.
• Apply software standards, processes, procedures and tools across the system life cycle to support products such as simulations, avionics, command and control, tactical displays, medical devices, sensors and electromechanical systems.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

Required profile

• 1+ years of experience with modern software development (e.g. Java J2EE, JavaScript, Spring) in a team using strict configuration management (git, Bitbucket, GitLab, GitHub).
• 1+ years of experience with modern web application development (JavaScript, Node.js, Angular).
• Experience with build, packaging and deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Maven, Yum, NPM and RPM.
• Skilled in debugging and runtime issues.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
• Desired: minimum 3.0 GPA, previous internship/co-op or other work experience, and leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
