Software Engineer III - GPS HST (Java Full Stack, Agile Lead)

About the role

Deloitte's Government and Public Services (GPS) practice is looking for an experienced Technical Scrum Master / Technical Lead with strong Java full-stack development expertise to join its GPS HST Technology team in Austin, Texas. The selected person leads the sprint team, providing hands-on architecture, design, coding, mentoring and delivery guidance while facilitating Agile practices on a fast-paced program supporting critical public service initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance and design oversight to the sprint team
• Partner with developers, testers, product owners and business analysts to deliver high-quality solutions
• Conduct design and code reviews and ensure compliance with enterprise standards
• Facilitate Agile delivery while contributing to technical solutioning and implementation
• Coach and mentor team members, resolve issues, mitigate risks and drive continuous improvement
• Manage the client and team, including value creation activities

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands-on Java/J2EE development experience
• 1+ year as a Technical Lead managing full-stack application development teams
• Bachelor's degree
• Local to Austin or able to relocate before the start date; travel 0-20% on average
• Willingness to provide hands-on coding, troubleshooting and technical support

Required skills

• Agile certification such as CSM, PMI-ACP, SAFe Scrum Master or equivalent
• Enterprise application architecture, including n-tier and distributed systems
• Integration platforms such as DataPower, MuleSoft or ESB
• Java and Spring (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data)
• REST and SOAP web services with JAX-RS/JAX-WS
• Oracle or similar relational databases, SQL, performance tuning
• JUnit unit testing and Agile ceremonies
• Preferred: WebSphere, JBoss, React, Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, Jest, CI/CD and DevOps

The stated wage range is $102,800 to $171,300 per year, with possible participation in a discretionary annual incentive program.
