Software Engineer II – Full‑Stack Development

About the role

As a Software Engineer II you will join a high‑performing team that delivers full‑stack solutions across finance, infrastructure, e‑commerce, registration and scheduling domains. You will work in an agile, results‑driven environment, applying industry best practices to design, implement and test mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and create design artifacts using established patterns.
• Implement code following Pearson coding standards, using Java, JPA, Hibernate, REST/SOAP services, AngularJS and jQuery.
• Participate in and lead requirement, design, code and test‑case reviews.
• Collaborate with QA, configuration management and end‑users to release high‑quality software.
• Develop automated unit, integration and functional tests.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and document project status, risks and effort.
• Mentor new team members and support mission‑critical applications as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional Java development experience.
• At least 1 year of programmatic interaction with relational databases.
• Experience working in an agile environment is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies, domains and tools.
• Strong analytical thinking and understanding of software architecture principles.
