Software Engineer I

About the role

Uber is looking for a Software Engineer I to join its backend engineering team in Seattle. You will help build and maintain services that power user‑facing products, internal tools, and infrastructure platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services using Uber’s technology stack.
• Maintain and improve existing services to ensure reliability and performance.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents and reliability issues.
• Collaborate with product and operations teams to support business needs and improve engineering productivity.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and monitoring of production systems.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience working with version‑control systems such as Git or SVN.
