Software Engineer – Generative AI

About the role

Google DeepMind is seeking a Software Engineer to drive high‑impact generative AI research and product development. You will prototype GenAI solutions, curate datasets, and build robust ML pipelines that power multimodal understanding and reinforcement learning.

Key responsibilities

• Apply research to real‑world problems by prototyping generative AI solutions, curating datasets, and building ML pipelines.
• Develop, test, and ship production‑grade code with comprehensive integration, performance, and security testing.
• Collaborate with peers through rigorous design and code reviews to enforce best practices and improve system testability.
• Triage and resolve complex system issues, optimizing hardware, network, and service operations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and educational materials, updating content based on product changes and user feedback.
• Manage the full deployment lifecycle, contributing to system qualification, monitoring, automation, and technical debt reduction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience applying machine learning, statistics, or diffusion model theory in research.
• Experience in software development using Java, C, C++, Python, or Go.
• Proficiency designing and applying data structures or algorithms.
• Background in ML infrastructure management, model evaluation, and data processing.
• Strong data analysis and synthesis skills for machine‑learning applications.
