Software Engineer - Digital Pathology Instrumentation

About the role

Roche is looking for a Software Engineer in Santa Clara to lead instrumentation software development for digital pathology solutions that transform patient diagnostics. You will join a collaborative team designing and building scalable applications, from initial concept and backend logic through UI and full end-to-end system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead software development and integration for complex digital pathology instrumentation and robotic systems.
• Design and maintain scalable code using C#, C/C++.NET and Linux for backend logic and user interfaces.
• Develop and run unit, subsystem and integration tests to ensure product quality and reliability.
• Work in an Agile environment with solution architects, hardware engineers and software leads to turn business requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide fellow engineers and share best practices across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prototype new software systems and reuse shared architecture components across solutions.

Required profile

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 6 years of experience in medical hardware devices and/or diagnostics instruments.
• Proven track record of taking software projects from idea to final release with solid system design principles.
• Familiarity with modern development methodologies such as SAFe or Scrum.
• Ability to explain technical concepts, mentor others and work with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• 6+ years of technical knowledge of C#, C/C++, Linux.NET, Angular and distributed systems or robotics.
• 3 years of firmware development in C/C++.

What we offer

• Expected salary range of 143,800 to 267,000 USD per year, depending on experience, qualifications and location; actual pay set by the employer.
• A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
