Software Engineer (AI, Full-Stack) - Remote

About the role

R1 is a healthcare revenue cycle company that combines revenue cycle expertise with technology such as analytics, AI and intelligent automation. R37 is its AI innovation lab, building the Phare OS platform that improves pre-bill workflows (authorization, utilization management, documentation and coding) and prevents claim denials. As a Software Engineer, you will help build and scale AI-native products, designing and developing full-stack applications and services that combine traditional software engineering, machine learning and generative AI. The position is remote and open to US-based candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test, deploy and operate frontend applications, backend services, data pipelines and AI systems powering models, reasoning and resolution agents and human-in-the-loop AI features.
• Run A/B tests and ship production features tied to real business outcomes.
• Partner with product managers and operators to turn manual workflows into agentic, AI-driven automations.
• Work with AI and ML engineers to build systems combining deterministic logic, traditional ML models and LLMs.
• Design and build secure, compliant and reliable systems at scale.

Required profile

• 3-6+ years of software engineering experience building, deploying and supporting production systems.
• Proven experience owning features, products or services through the entire software development lifecycle.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting scalable systems focused on performance, reliability and data integrity.
• Ability to lead projects independently and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Commitment to clean code, software quality and production readiness.
• Healthcare or RCM experience is a bonus.

• Base pay of $105,000-$202,500 depending on level, with a bonus starting at 10%.
