Software Developer – Research & Engineering (Hybrid)

About the role

Electronic Arts is looking for a Software Developer to join its Research & Engineering team. You will work at the intersection of research and production, turning emerging technologies such as AI‑assisted creation and procedural systems into scalable engine features used by millions of players.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with engine developers to integrate creator‑focused systems into the core engine architecture.
• Translate prototypes into production‑ready engine features, ensuring compatibility with existing tools, pipelines, and runtime systems.
• Focus on a single engine domain—tools, data pipelines, or runtime systems—and improve its performance and extensibility.
• Design extensible interfaces under senior‑engineer guidance to enable rapid iteration on new technologies.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with AAA game engines (e.g., Frostbite, Unreal) or comparable large‑scale real‑time systems.
• Proficiency in C++ and software design patterns for high‑performance environments.
• Ability to become productive quickly in tools, pipeline, or runtime codebases.
• Experience collaborating in large code bases and following direction from senior engineers.
