Software Developer – Manufacturing Operations

About the role

John Deere is looking for a Software Developer to join the Harvester Works team in East Moline, Illinois. You will work in an agile product team to create, test and support software that improves manufacturing operations and business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug and maintain software applications and services.
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as planning, estimation, backlog refinement and retrospectives.
• Write clean, maintainable and well‑tested code following engineering standards.
• Take part in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve technical skills.
• Investigate and resolve software defects and production issues with guidance from senior engineers.
• Apply modern practices including version control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and observability.
• Collaborate with product owners, business partners and teammates to translate requirements into effective solutions.
• Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong programming and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience with web application development concepts, APIs and databases.
• Ability to work independently and within a cross‑functional team.
• Effective communication and a willingness to learn new technologies.
