Social Worker (MSW) – Full‑Time/Temporary (UTower)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Master‑level Social Worker to join the UTower team. The role involves providing comprehensive social services to patients and families, supporting them through complex medical situations and coordinating post‑acute care.

Key responsibilities

• Interview patients and families to assess social and emotional needs.
• Develop and coordinate programs and activities that address identified needs.
• Provide crisis intervention and guide families through medical and lifestyle implications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and adjust discharge plans.
• Conduct patient assessments, document findings, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Connect patients and families with community resources and act as an advocate with physicians, insurers, and agencies.
• Educate patients and families on medical recommendations and follow‑up care.
• Supervise and mentor junior social workers.
• Adhere to university policies and protect institutional assets.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Work.
• Relevant certification or licensure.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain composed in stressful situations.
• Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
• Commitment to the University’s core values.
• Capacity to work independently and within a collaborative team.
