Social Worker (MSW) – Cancer Center

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Master‑level Social Worker to provide counseling, support, and care coordination for patients and families at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the care team to develop and facilitate patient discharge plans for post‑inpatient care.
• Reassess care plans based on patients’ physical and emotional needs.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including illness status, mental health, and family dynamics.
• Document all relevant information accurately in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Connect patients and families with appropriate community resources.
• Act as an advocate and liaison among patients, physicians, insurers, and community agencies.
• Help patients and families understand, accept, and follow medical recommendations.
• Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior social workers.
• Adhere to university and unit policies while safeguarding institutional assets.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant social work experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
