Social Worker (LCSW) – Cancer Support Services

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Social Worker (LCSW) to join its Cancer Support Services Department. In this role you will provide emotional support, mental health assessments, therapy, and case management to patients and families navigating cancer treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Advocate for patients, helping them access community and hospital resources.
• Conduct counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral assessments.
• Coach patients on managing chronic health conditions and promote positive behavior change.
• Facilitate individual, group, and educational sessions for patients and families.
• Refer patients to specialized programs and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in patient charts and act as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse.

Required profile

• Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.
• Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification.
• At least 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.
