Shipping & Receiving Data Entry Clerk

About the role

Transcat is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Data Entry Clerk to support its fast‑growing calibration and compliance services business. You will be the key point of contact for verifying, recording, and processing all inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Compare identifying information, counts, weights, or measures of incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Enter shipment data accurately into the designated computer system.
• Determine appropriate shipping methods that meet established policies, procedures, and customer specifications.
• Coordinate with freight companies for oversized shipments and affix shipping labels, stencils, or other identifying information to cartons and containers.
• Unpack, examine, and document incoming shipments, reporting damages or shortages and working with shippers to resolve issues.
• Distribute items to the correct individuals or areas and verify that outgoing shipments meet customer requirements.

Required profile

• Ability to perform detailed data entry and maintain high levels of accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments and documentation simultaneously.
• Good communication skills for coordinating with freight carriers and internal teams.
• Attention to detail when inspecting shipments for damages or discrepancies.

Required skills

• Data entry proficiency in company-specific software.
• Basic understanding of shipping documentation (bills of lading, invoices, orders).
• Familiarity with labeling and packaging procedures.
