Ship Agency Operator – New Orleans

About the role

Wilhelmsen Port Services is looking for a Ship Agency Operator to join its New Orleans office. You will act as the primary point of contact for vessel arrivals, ensuring smooth coordination of port calls while adhering to global standards and local requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and board vessels as directed, following company SOPs and customer requirements.
• Coordinate all aspects of assigned port calls, including contractor selection and quotation management.
• Maintain compliance with ship agency processes, using the designated operating system for reporting and documentation.
• Monitor vessel status, handle enquiries, and ensure proper pre‑funding and authority approvals.
• Maintain up‑to‑date vessel files and transactional systems in real time.
• Track and record expenses, manage cash‑in‑transit procedures, and approve supplier invoices.
• Provide proactive communication and report business opportunities to management.

Required profile

• Maritime background with experience in ship agency operations.
• Strong oral and written English communication skills.
• Good understanding of processes and operational systems.
• Self‑motivated, result‑oriented and able to work under pressure.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to anticipate issues and implement preventive measures.
