Service Technician – Student Living (Union Tuscaloosa)

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Service Technician to support its student living community in Union Tuscaloosa. The role involves performing technical and mechanical tasks to keep the property, grounds, amenities and common areas safe, functional and presentable.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to resident service requests and complete work orders, diagnosing issues and performing repairs in line with company policies, safety standards and code requirements.
• Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant units, including pre‑move‑out inspections, creating punch lists, scheduling vendors, obtaining supplies and completing all maintenance tasks before new move‑ins.
• Manage inventory of tools, supplies and equipment, track usage, return unused items and notify the supervisor of re‑order needs.
• Document service requests accurately and promptly to ensure proper tracking.
• Maintain grounds and common areas by picking up trash, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, performing general cleaning and painting curbs or signage as required.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing rather than replacing parts whenever possible and using materials efficiently.
• Participate in safety meetings and adhere to Greystar’s safety and risk‑management policies.

Required profile

• Ability to diagnose mechanical or building issues and perform repairs safely.
• Attention to detail for inspections, documentation and inventory control.
• Willingness to follow established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing ladders and operating cleaning equipment.
