Service Supervisor

About the role

Meijer is looking for a Service Supervisor in Middleburg Heights who plans, directs and supervises team members in the day-to-day operations of the store. The supervisor acts as mentor and coach, drives customer service and sales, keeps the store looking good during peak hours and is responsible for the P&L of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly and efficient service to customers and team members, and spend most of the time in the store
• Handle staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs
• Promote succession planning by giving career paths, identifying development needs and taking responsibility for promotion decisions
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and recommend discharge where needed
• Be responsible for the P&L, achieve sales targets and maintain shrink
• Mentor and coach team members so they exceed customer service and sales goals and keep the area to Meijer standards
• Ensure the team is fully trained and has completed all required training
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
• Promote a safe work environment and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of related retail experience
• One year of management experience
• Rotational experience in areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli, plus customer service and product flow experience, is helpful
• Successful completion of all required certifications
