Service Manager

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Service Manager for its Maple Grove store. The manager keeps the store running smoothly by supervising and coordinating employees across all departments so customers receive prompt, friendly service. The role is fast-paced, involves leading by example and stepping in wherever the store needs help, and is paid hourly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers by name
• Maintain positive employee relations and plan, prepare and adjust work schedules, assigning duties and following up on completion
• Supervise and coordinate staff across the store, acting in the Department Manager's absence and performing work at all job levels
• Train workers in store policies, department procedures and job duties, and evaluate employee performance and recommend promotions, transfers or dismissals
• Enforce safety procedures, fill out customer accident forms and first reports of injury, and order and verify merchandise deliveries
• Set up ad and promotional displays, compile and review managerial data such as sales, inventory and display reports, and check personnel records and payroll basics
• Handle cash registers, Western Union, money orders and hunting and fishing license transactions, and recommend cost-reduction programs and shelf allocations
• Handle confidential information such as pricing, sales reports, profit and loss and employee wages with discretion, and adhere to all store policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required
• Two or more years of similar or related work experience preferred
• Ability to stand and walk frequently during a shift, and to use sharp knives and blades safely where applicable
• Exposure to heat and burn hazards and to dust, noise and temperature extremes; ability to operate a delivery vehicle per DOT standards where applicable

The anticipated hourly starting wage is $18.00 to $22.50 depending on experience. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen. The position reports to the Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers, and has no direct reports.
