Senior Technical Accountant (Remote, US GAAP)

About the role

Hire Hangar is seeking a senior‑level Technical Accountant to join its growing finance team. This remote position focuses on complex US GAAP areas such as lease accounting under ASC 842, 409A valuations, and stock‑based compensation under ASC 718, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Own lease accounting under ASC 842, including classification, ROU schedules, modifications, remeasurements, and disclosures.
• Support 409A valuation processes by coordinating with providers, preparing cap tables, financials, and reviewing draft reports.
• Prepare and record stock‑based compensation entries under ASC 718 and maintain equity schedules.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and checklists.
• Draft technical accounting memos and audit‑ready documentation for complex transactions.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors on lease and equity accounting matters.
• Assist with US GAAP financial statement preparation and disclosures.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in a US GAAP environment.
• Demonstrable ASC 842 implementation or compliance experience (non‑negotiable).
• Exposure to 409A valuations and ASC 718 stock‑based compensation accounting.
• Public‑accounting background (Big Four or large regional firm) or experience at a US company/startup.
• Advanced English (C1+) and strong communication with US stakeholders.
• Prior remote‑work experience and fluency with collaboration tools.
