Senior Tax Manager - State Income Tax

About the role

Halliburton is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead state and local income/franchise tax compliance and provision activities. You will oversee outsourced tax return preparation, support tax provision calculations, and ensure accurate reporting under ASC 740.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and review outsourced state and local income/franchise tax return preparation and related compliance.
• Support state tax provision, apportionment calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and forecasting under ASC 740.
• Facilitate extensions, estimated payments, and related journal entries and forecasts.
• Lead state and local tax audits and coordinate responses to tax authorities.
• Conduct technical research, support planning initiatives, incentives, and risk mitigation.
• Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on the company.
• Support SOX compliance and drive process improvements for state tax.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the SALT team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience with state and local income/franchise tax.
• Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 and multistate tax concepts.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Preferred CPA, MBA, or Master’s in Taxation.
• Experience with OneSource, CCH, Checkpoint, and SAP.
