Senior Systems/Server Administrator

About the role

We are seeking a contract Senior Systems/Server Administrator to join the technical services team supporting the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). The role is fully remote but candidates must reside in Austin, TX or surrounding areas. You will help modernize the legacy environment and ensure reliable operation of critical Windows server infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and update on‑premises physical servers and virtual server environments.
• Manage virtual storage solutions and backup systems, ensuring data protection and recovery.
• Implement security parameters, including certificate management and firewall configurations.
• Co‑manage Microsoft Windows Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP services.
• Provide tier‑1 to tier‑3 help‑desk support while performing server administration tasks.
• Collaborate with the Information Resources team both in‑person and remotely.
• Document technical procedures, support processes, and system configurations.

Required profile

• Strong background supporting Microsoft Windows Enterprise environments.
• Experience with physical and virtual server hosts, especially domain controllers, file, Exchange, application, print, and content management servers.
• Proven ability to work on storage, backup, and server licensing solutions.
• Hands‑on experience co‑managing Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Familiarity with firewalls, firewall management tools, SIEMs, switches, and network licensing.
• Comfortable providing both routine and complex help‑desk support.
